The Naight House Bed and Breakfast is situated on the banks of The River Severn. An ideal spot to watch the famous Severn Bore, a natural phenomenon when a large tidal wave surges up the river.

The Naight House origins can be traced back to the 16th century, the house that stands today was mostly built in Georgian times. “Naight” means “Island”, the house is built on a semi-island with three acres of mature garden and woodland around it. The garden provides a relaxing haven in which to unwind with plenty of benches scattered around. If you are feeling more active why not partake in a game of croquet on the front lawn? From late January to early February the riverbank and small wooded area are covered with blankets of snowdrops. Spring brings the beautiful cherry and apple blossom. From May through to August, the gardens are awash with colour and scent. September is the perfect time to spot the many varieties of dragonflies, flying around the garden showing off their acrobatics skills. In need of solitude, “The Salmon Hut”, situated on the riverbank of the garden, once used for hanging nets to catch salmon, now furnished as a small writing/retreat room.

The reception room is reserved for guest use, you will find a Nespresso machine and cakes available. The room can be a sun trap and a great place to sit and plan your daily trips. Books and leaflets of local interests and maps can be found here.

The Naight House is approximately ten minutes’ drive from historic Gloucester and its Cathedral. It is twenty minutes from Cheltenham Spa, ideal for The Gold Cup and Literature Festival. The Naight House is just off the A48 and A40 and is a perfect starting point to explore the Cotswolds, Wales, Ross-on-Wye and the Forest of Dean. If walking is your thing, all you need to do is step outside, and the Gloucester Way footpath runs through the garden along the riverbank.

Breakfast is served in the dining room around a large dining table. On a warm sunny day why not take breakfast outside in the garden. Breakfast begins with homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, croissants, homemade preserves, fruit juice, fresh coffee, a selection of teas or hot chocolate.   You then have the choice of full English or lighter option of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Vegetarian/vegan breakfasts are available. We try to source all ingredients locally. The bacon and sausages come from Gloucester pigs reared on a small holding in the village. The smoked salmon from Severn & Wye Smokery, just up the road.

We do not serve evening meals but there are many local pubs and fine dining restaurants a short drive away. There are also lots of contemporary restaurants in Gloucester Docks only a 10-minute drive away.

Off road parking provided.

Unfortunately, the house is built on many levels, with steps up and down on all floors of the house, so The Naight House may not be suitable for some disabled guests. Please contact us to discuss your needs/concerns.

Sorry, we do not allow guests' dogs to stay. Our miniature dachshund would not like it.
